Bequests

A gift in your Will can leave a lasting legacy to the future of New Zealand’s maritime heritage, people and stories.

Your bequest can make a real difference. A gift in your Will to the Maritime Museum Foundation is a generous way of providing a lasting contribution to the important work of preserving and sharing our maritime heritage.

No matter the size, your bequest will ensure your commitment to maritime interests lives on, benefitting and inspiring generations to come.

There are many ways you can make a bequest. It can be for a specific sum of money or asset, a percentage of your estate, or the residue of your estate once family members and friends have been provided for. A bequest can be made to the Maritime Museum Foundation to support its overall priorities, or you can specify which areas of the New Zealand Maritime Museum you would like to support. The choice is yours.

We understand that Wills are personal and private so please contact us if you would like to confidentially discuss your intentions and how best to proceed.

Updating your Will: To add a gift to the Maritime Museum Foundation, you don’t need a new Will. A codicil is a formal addition to the principal Will and allows for simple adjustments to be made.

To ensure the wording in your Will accurately describes your intentions, we encourage you to consult your solicitor.

The following clause is a guide:

I give the sum of $x OR a specific asset OR x% of my estate OR the residue of my estate to the Maritime Museum Foundation CC10423 of PO Box 89-189 Torbay, Auckland 0742 (The Foundation) for its general purposes (or specify an area of support) and I declare that the receipt of the Foundation Chair or his/her delegate at the time shall constitute a sufficient discharge to my executors in respect of the gift to the Foundation.

Should you choose to leave a gift to the Maritime Museum Foundation,
we would like to thank you.
